Eyecessorize, a publication of The Vision Council, have published their Fall 2009 Eyewear Trends. For men, they identify three emerging trends: Classic Comeback, Flying High and Sci-Fi Revival. Classic Comeback is just what it sounds like: frames that hearken back to styles popular in the 1950′s, 1960′ and 1970′s are becoming popular again, albeit a little more spoofed up. Flying High indicates that aviator type glasses and sunglasses both remain popular. Sci-Fi Revival is a little harder to pin down; with some retro styles as well as mirror wrap-around sunglasses, all in dark or metallic colors.

For women, they also identify three trends: Feminine Mystique, Retro Redux and Rocker Chic. Feminine Mystique features frames with a classic look, with dark colors and gradient tints. Retro Redux is goes further back than the male Classic Comeback frames, instead containing frames based on vintage eyeglass designs. And Rocker Chic highlights frames with rhinestones, skulls, flames, many colors and innovative temple patterns.
