Paris’ Fabulous Frames: Eyewear From Paris Hilton

The celebrity socialite and great granddaughter of the founder of Hilton Hotels, Paris Hilton is no stranger to the world of fashion design. In 2004 she launched her own line of jewelry, the Paris Hilton Collection, through Amazon.com. In regards to the line of jewelry, she told the Associated Press “I thought my fans would want to have a part of me, something I designed. A young girl is able to afford it. It looks expensive but it’s not.” In 2006 the “famous for being famous” Hilton released her own line of perfume, aptly named “Heiress For Women” as well as another for men simply called “Heir”.

Paris Moves From Jewelry to Eyewear Design

In 2009 she posted at the end of one of her MySpace blog entries that she was going to be getting into eyewear, too.

I flew into New York this morning, I’m about to go the Eye Wear Convention. I’m launching my new sunglass line. I’m so excited! I love wearing sunglasses and now I have my very own line! Loves it! So, I have to run, but hope everyones doing wonderfully and love you all.

The convention she was referring to was the 2009 International Vision Expo and her line of sunglasses was released through Gripping Eyewear Inc. Jimmy Jongebloed, president and CEO of Gripping Eyewear Inc said in February of 2010:

Paris Hilton as a brand represents beauty, elegance, and an exquisite fashion sense. The sunglass collection embraces these values with the unsurpassed quality, technology, and production expertise of GIE. Paris personally worked with GEI designers on each concept and closely directed the look of the collection.

Paris Hilton herself added “It’s no secret that I adore sunglasses, and I am incredibly excited to have a collection of my own.”

Fashionable, or Fugly?

At a party to celebrate the release of the line at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Hilton walked the runway modeling her collection herself.  Some of the styles are a bit unusual.  Hideous, or futuristic? What do you think?
