Avatar and the 3D Glasses Buzz
Unless you’re on a media fast (in which case, you probably wouldn’t be reading this post!), you’ve heard the buzz about James Cameron’s 3D epic film, Avatar. A seamless blend of live action and special effects, this film breaks the bank—reported to have cost between 200 and 500 million dollars.
The exciting thing for us at Just Eyewear is the fact that Avatar utilizes 3D glasses to their best. Talk about good timing for Cameron, as the film comes out right when 3D glasses are all-the-rage. The newest 3D trend is buying personalized, higher quality 3D glasses, instead of wearing the cheap “ugly” plastic ones they give you for free at the theater. If you love your designer brands, you’ll also be happy to hear that Gucci has actually released a line of designer 3D glasses.
Many say the 3D phenomenon is only a phase, while other industry professionals predict this is the ushering in of a new age of cinema—the universal switch to first: digital, and second: 3D.
All I know is that even if I look like a geek in my plastic 3D glasses—and honestly, who doesn’t?—I am going to watch Avatar for the special effects alone. And if this 3D trend really does continue, maybe I will be among the many sporting their own pair of 3D glasses.
